Agia Irini is a perfect alternative option for hiking especially for non-experienced hikers. The walk starts from the small village Agia Irini at an altitude of around 560 m. The length of the path is approximately 7.5 kilometers and it will take you about 3 hours walking. The gorge becomes narrower or wider all the time and you have to stop every now and then and enjoy the sunlight shining through the foliage of the trees.
3 hours · Admission not includedSougia is a small seaside village, 70 kilometers south of Chania and lies at the mouth of the Agia Irini gorge. Right in front of the village is the great beach of Sougia with its small pebbles. It starts in the west, near the little harbour, and runs east for about 1.5 kilometers. The further east you go, the fewer people there are. It is an ideal place to enjoy the beautiful blue crystal clear waters of the beach and the traditional restaurants.
